#4: As part of its push to join the NAIA, Michigan-Flint has received approval from the University of Michigan Board of Regents to proceed with a $34M renovation to its recreation building. The 80K square-foot space will be fully renovated to become the home of basketball and volleyball with an arena and seating for around 800, locker rooms, sports medicine space and more. “Funding will be provided from Charles Stewart Mott Foundation grants and University of Michigan-Flint resources. The construction cash flow may be provided, all or in part, by bond or note proceeds, secured by a pledge of General Revenues, and authorized by the Board of Regents. The architectural firm of Integrated Design Solutions will design the project. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2028.” (link)

#3: IU South Bend signed a department-wide jersey sponsorship with Central Midwest Carpenters that is the largest of the seven department-wide NAIA jersey deals, per AD Scott Cooper. Cooper: “For us, I feel like that’s one of the most exciting things is not only what we can do with the opportunities this sponsorship creates now. This also demonstrates that to other sponsors down the line.” (link); Cooper also sat down with Regional Radio Sports Network’s Paul Condry to discuss the Titans’ non-conference scheduling approach: “One of my favorite things about working here is that we sleep in our own beds at night and we don't have any overnight trips or that kind of thing. And it allows me to be a respectable dad. … Where we sit kind of lends itself to that. We've got the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference, we've got the Crossroads League, we've got the River States Conference all real night by. So we can find good NAIA competition without having to go very far, which is just an advantage again of where we sit geographically.” (link)

We are very grateful to the DSU supporters whose generosity and commitment are helping make this facility possible.” The project is estimated to be ready in August 2027. (link)
