#4: Now this is cool: Idaho Director of Video Production Richard Pathomsiri commissioned senior fine arts student Emma Cuddy to reimagine the football program's digital game-week posters by producing 12 original, 18-by-20 inch oil paintings throughout the upcoming season. The initiative debuted ahead of the season opener against Cal Poly, featuring quarterback Joshua Wood gripping a spear on a California beach alongside wild mustangs, a piece that required roughly 30 hours of meticulous brushwork. The university will photograph each completed canvas to distribute digitally before auctioning the original artwork, with Cuddy retaining a cut of the final sale. Pathomsiri on trusting the slow, methodical creative process to cut through digital fatigue: “What you need to do is try to put football players in situations that seem bigger than life. … There are people out there that can capture so much feeling and invoke so much inspiration in you.” (link)
