BYU has officially restructured its athletic department, splitting football off from the Cougars’ other 20 sports, per The Deseret News’ Dick Harmon and Tad Walch, who note gridiron HC Kalani Sitake will now report directly to university Advancement VP Keith Vorkink, while AD Brian Santiago will oversee the remaining programs. Florida State and Miami (FL) have joined forces to ink a multi-year deal to have Progressive serve as the presenting sponsor of the two teams’ college football rivalry. As part of the agreement, the company’s logo will be prominently displayed on the playing surface at every Florida State and Miami (FL) home football match-up throughout the 2026 campaign, with additional elements set to include in-stadium signage and custom rivalry content. Per the Daily Press’ David Teel, no conference offers more compelling early-season college football fare than the ACC. Overall, five of the seven Power 4 teams playing during Week 0 hail from the league, while seven of Week 1’s nine P4-program match-ups involve at least one ACC squad, bookended by Georgia Tech-Colorado on September 3 and Florida State-SMU on Labor Day night. ESPN plans to remove its BottomLine ticker during college football games, according to Front Office Sports’ Ryan Glasspiegel, who notes the changes “should provide a less cluttered viewing experience that better showcases the action on the field.” More. (link)
