The U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled 2-1 to grant the NCAA’s stay request in the Wisne case meaning the injunction issued by Judge Charlotte Sweeney for class of 2022 student-athletes has been stayed. (link, link)
The NCAA has released a statement regarding the Tenth Circuit’s decision to stay the Wisne preliminary injunction that reads, in part, “[This decision] permits Division I to return to the status quo before the district court intervened. Effective immediately, the age-based eligibility rules will be implemented as the Division I membership intended. Class members who were allowed to compete because of the Wisne injunction are no longer eligible to compete.” More. (link)
The UAC has announced that the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, will serve as the host of the UAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments for the next three years. Home to the ECHL’s Allen Americans, the 7K-plus seat multi-purpose venue has hosted numerous events over the years including concerts, professional sporting events, star performers, trade shows and large conventions.
