Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) says the legislative body will “probably” be in session next week, per Semafor’s Burgess Everett, who adds there’s “no deal to speed up the college sports bill at this time.” (link); The upper chamber is tentatively scheduled to be in session through next Friday before taking recess until November 9. The Protect College Sports Act passed its final procedural hurdle today with 74 supporting votes, per Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger, who notes this paved the way for Monday’s final vote. “The PCSA passed all five procedural votes with at least 70 votes. It needs 60 in the final vote.” The previous four procedural vote count totals: “1. 74-24 (2 absentee/non-vote); 2. 77-22 (1); 3. 70-21 (9); 4. 77-23 (0).” (link, link)

Louisiana Tech and Louisiana accidentally disclosed their internal athletic revenue-sharing budgets through documents posted for a recent University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors meeting, according to the Louisiana Illuminator's Piper Hutchinson, who notes a newly passed state law, Act 818, allows universities to shield team-specific financial distributions from public records requests. The documents revealed Louisiana Tech budgeted $1.98M to pay players (including $1.2M for football and roughly $500K for men’s basketball), while Louisiana allocated $1.5M ($591K for football and $647K for men’s basketball). Additional system disclosures included $750K at Northwestern State, $460K at Grambling State and $454K at Southeastern Louisiana. More. (link)
